About Doctor Lauren

I am a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) - this means that I am a Specialist General Practitioner who has been trained extensively in medical care specifically for regional Australia (Regional Generalist). Between completing medical school training in 2011 and completing my specialist GP training, I have worked extensively in Obstetrics and Gynaecology units across Victoria, including in large tertiary hospitals, such as the Mercy Hospital for Women and the Royal Women’s Hospital.

I have completed an additional advanced Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRANZCOG Adv) which means that I can help women birth their babies, and provide care to women in labour, along with providing comprehensive pregnancy care. I am employed at Warragul Hospital (WGHG) as a maternity unit doctor of the day.

I have completed additional accreditation in NDC (Possums) approach to supporting new parents in feeding, sleep and mental health concerns which allows me to provide care in all aspects of pregnancy, birth and new parenthood.

I am also the mum of two energetic boys, a dog, a cat, 5 sheep and 6 chickens.

GP-Led Pregnancy Care

Caring for you and your baby throughout your pregnancy journey

Why a GP Obstetrician?

Continuity of care throughout your pregnancy has been shown to improve your experience of pregnancy, labour and birth. A GP Obstetrician is a specialist General Practitioner who has had additional training in looking after pregnant women.

GPs are unique in that they are able to provide care to both parents and their babies as their pregnancy and parenting journey unfolds.

I have had extensive training in maternity hospitals across Victoria and love working with women and their families to help them experience the best pregnancy and birth possible for them.

Individualised care

If you’ve had a bad experience with previous births, or if you’re worried about your pregnancy and birth, we can work together to address these issues.

I can help you navigate your pregnancy, birth and post partum journey in a confident and informed way.

Mother-Baby Consultations

I am accredited in Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) - also known as the Possums Program.

This type of care is a gentle, supportive approach to difficulties with sleeping, feeding (breast and bottle), and parental mental health.

Appointments are available for parents and babies up to 1 year. (Over 1 year under some circumstances). I work alongside Dr Cassie Rickard offering this service at Gladstone Street Medical Clinic.
